Usually I don't do intro posts and I just lurk, but I assumed this would be better, intro post here and all? Or something. Yah. XD

So, hello! *waves* I'm uh, well, I was an army brat for the first sixteen years of my life. That kinda ended three years ago June 8 of this year. My mum and I moved on from our losses very difficultly and picked up life in the wonderful area of Dallas, TX! I am a weird Euro-mix, haha.. and my name would be Bella! Well, it's not my first name - it's the second half of my middle name - and I'm 19 in May! Let's see.... I used to live in Germany before I moved here to Dallas and I miss Europe. I am in community college right now... Richland Community College in Dallas so if anyone is here that goes there or something, let me know! ^_^

I'm starting my Japanese language lessons in the fall and stuff and I'm really excited. I've kinda started to study before I started and I hope to also learn Korean and eventually Chinese. *sigh* I have a difficult life ahead of me, no? Well, I'm planning on going into teaching, but DoDs teaching so I can travel wherever I want to, as long as there is a military base. I love world history and world cultures, I love languages and... animals! I watch loads of movies and I love music. Generally I'm a pretty shy person at first but I eventually open up and I'm pretty much an oddball! I love to joke around but I know when to be serious, of course. It's just - generally with my past I've learned that unhappiness only spoils things so I try to make light of every situation I can! I don't really know many people here in Dallas so I don't really do much other than study and kinda hang out with my family. As far as Asians go? Oh deary me, eleven year old little me used to have a crush on a guy my dad worked with. You know, those little girly crushes? Yah, well, it never went away, I guess and I just tend to enjoy Asian guys a bit more than others - albeit I've never really had a true boyfriend. I sound like such a nerd. Haha... but no, I've always just been more friend oriented and well, I think Asian guys are prettier and... more enjoyable and stuff.

Yah. Okay, I think I've rambled on enough. I'm usually an open book.. XD

So, hello! I hope you welcome me to this community! *waves* Hello!

welcome to the community.
japanese is the easiest to learn of the three. i've tried learning all three and even though i used to speak korean, i still think japanese is easier for an english based tongue. there are no intonations, it is accent based like romance languages. korean, sounds a little like caontese - my source is someone who knows cantonese who had to try to communicate with koreans in seoul. korean is a really lazy tongue language, which makes it difficult to pin down. just be careful of that. i'm learning chinese right now. luckily i have lots of chinese speakers in my life, but i must say, knowing a bit of korean and japanese, chinese is really tough. good luck.

Thank you! I've heard that about Japanese. That's part of why I'm tackling it first. Thank you very much, though. :)

just a thought on japanese: someone i know studied japanese language history and he mentioned that though many words in japanese don't sound anything like chinese, if you right it down in english, you'll definitely notice the similarities from japanese and cantonese. this is due to the fact that they are both originally from the tang dynasty.
